A quick but important clarification
“LGBTQ+ affirmative” isn’t a therapy technique or a separate service I offer. It’s more about how I show up – never treating your sexual orientation or gender identity as something to be fixed, questioned, or explained. It shapes how I work across everything else I do, rather than being its own method.
Book a consultationWhat “affirmative” actually means
Being LGBTQ+ affirmative means your identity is treated as a valid part of who you are – not a symptom, not a phase, and not something therapy is trying to change. This isn’t just my personal approach – it’s the recognized clinical standard. It’s a stance that shows up across whatever kind of therapy we’re doing together (for me, that includes trauma-informed work, IFS, DBT, and CBT), rather than being a separate method on its own.
What you can expect from me
You won’t need to justify or defend your identity – though you’re always welcome to share or clarify labels that feel important to you, at your own pace
Your goals for therapy are yours to define – I’m not working toward some idea of what your identity “should” look like
I stay aware of the specific pressures LGBTQ+ people often deal with – including in family, cultural, or religious spaces that aren’t always accepting
Whatever we’re actually working on – anxiety, trauma, relationships – happens with this understanding already in place
